Director Sam Mendes Turns Down Bond Sequel

Skyfall may have taken over a billion dollars at the box office, making it the 7th highest grossing film of all time, but that clearly isn’t enough to persuade Sam Mendes that he should make another Bond film.

According to a recent interview with Empire magazine the Oscar winning American Beauty director has turned down a lucrative offer to helm the next Bond adventure in favour of returning to theatre.

Instead of directing the utterly inevitable 24th Bond film, he’ll instead concentrate on new stage productions of King Lear and Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

Though Mendes did leave the door open to returning to the franchise at some point in the future by insisting that he is keen to work with Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbra Broccoli again.
