New Hick Trailer Chloe Moretz & Blake Lively
Thanks to our magnificent friend Dave Vescio, check out the trailer below for Hick , the new film from award winning indie filmmaker Derick Martini (Goat on Fire, Smiling Fish). The gritty road movie follows a young Nebraska teen that gets much more than she bargained for when she sets out for the bright lights of Las Vegas.
Chloe Grace Moretz takes the lead role, yet again demonstrating an accomplished poise and raw vulnerability as the troubled pistol-totting teenage runaway. Alec Baldwin, Juliette Lewis, Eddie Redymane, Dave Vescio and Gossip Girl star Blake Lively provide the supporting cast of dangerous or damaged characters she meets in her travels.
Chloe Grace Moretz has just started filming the remake of Brian De Palma’s infamous 1976 shocker Carrie, based on Stephen King’s undisputed horror classic. It looks like Hick will also be providing its fair share of traumatic moments, see for yourself:
Tom Cruise Van Helsing Reboot News
Universal have turned to Star Trek screenwriting team Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to script their reboot of Van Helsing, with Tom Cruise stepping into Hugh Jackman’s shoes as the iconic monster hunter. Universal are hoping to erase memories of the disappointing 2004 blockbuster flop, helmed by Steven Sommers, which saw Jackman’s Van Helsing do CGI battle with Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolf-man & Dracula.
The astonishing commercial and critical success of the re-invigorated Star Trek movie franchise has clearly established its screenwriting pair as Hollywood’s safe bet for successfully recycling popular material. Indeed, Universal is placing all its monster eggs in one basket, by also asking Kurtzmn and Orci to provide the script for a reboot of The Mummy. Universal are hoping to inject new life into the once profitable franchise, which suffered because of declining quality sequels and Brendan Fraser’s waning star power.
Here’s what Kurtzman had to say about the tricky task of bringing Van Helsing in particular back to the big screen, while avoiding the obvious disappointing mistakes of other recent versions
“I don’t want to give away too much, because we are actually at the very beginning of talking about what to do with it. But I do feel like the Van Helsing that Anthony Hopkins plays in Bram Stokers Dracula is sort of the parody version of it, and the Van Helsing that Hugh Jackman played was obviously in a different place as well. I think that these kinds of movies have evolved a lot since then.”
Explaining what he thinks has changed in the eight year’s since Van Helsing last graced our silver screens, Kurtzman continued:
“The Dark Knight was a major, major corner-turning moment in the way that genre and superhero stories could be told. Really grounded in reality. Really grounded in really cool things. That’s what I’d like to do without sacrificing the fantasy element. We aspired to do that as well on Star Trek and we’d love to do that with Van Helsing.”
Production on Van Helsing won’t start till late 2013 at the earliest though as Tom Cruise has three films Reacher, Oblivion and All You Need Is Kill to complete before then. That should be more than enough time to find a suitably high place for Tom Cruise to dangle from.
Film 4 FrightFest 2012 Line Up
Horror fans get ready to be excited and scared in equal measure as the 13th annual Film 4 FrightFest line up is officially announced for this summer. The infamous horror film festival will as usual take place at Empire cinema in London’s Leicester Square running from Friday 24th August to Moday 27th. Festival Passes covering the entire festival will be available from the Empire Cinemas website at 11am tomorrow. Tickets for individual screenings will be on sale from 28th July.

Hollywood Walk Of Fame Stars List 2013
The list of those being honoured with a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013 has been announced, celebrating some of the biggest names in film, television, theatre and music.
Next year’s nominees include film talents such as Helen Mirren, Ron Howard, James Franco, Javier Bardem and Viola Davis. From the small screen Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Glee star Jane Lynch , Matthew Perry and Futurama voice actress Katy Sagal have also all received well deserved nods.
Music recognition sees American Boy Bands like New Kids On The Block & Backstreet Boys given recognition for their decades of synchronised dance moves and efforts to harmonise. Usher picks up a similar honour for his crooning six pack and giving for the world the gift of Justin Bieber. Iconic figures Luther Vandross and Janis Joplin will also be celebrated with posthumous awards.
The stars engraved with the signatures of the proud celebrity recipients are embedded into Hollywood pavements each year on behalf of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Considered the ultimate status symbol of success in the entertainment industry it costs those accepting the honour almost £20,000 to pay for the long term upkeep of their star. But few people ever decline the award.
Chloe Moretz Carrie Remake Starts Filming
MGM and Screen Gems have announced that filming has officially started on their big screen remake of classic Steven King horror Carrie. Boy’s Don’t Cry director Kimberly Peirce is taking charge of re-imagining the classic tale of a troubled teenager with telekinetic powers. The original 1976 Brian De Palma version won Oscar nods for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.
Kick Ass & Hugo starlet Chloe Grace Moretz takes on the lead role, while four time Oscar nominee Julianne Moore plays Carrie’s ultra-strict mother. Official synopsis below released by the studio:
“The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin ( Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.”
Although this synopsis doesn’t seem too wildly different from the familiar source material, it definitely boasts an impressive cast that should do it justice.
Speaking to Vanity Fair about the taking on the iconic character Chloe Moretz admitted he wouldn’t be taking inspiration for the 1976 original.
“I’m not watching in preparation for the movie because we’re doing something totally different and I’m trying to bring my own take into it. I am changing everything about me, my hair, and my look. I’m doing my own take on the character. The script is totally different from the original. It’s more like the book. It’s more Black Swan version; it messes with your mind. You’ll see things, and you don’t know if you’ve seen them.”
